I have searched and searched on this, everywhere I read said that the Bosch 7962 plugs were the ones I would need to do the top row of plugs on my '08 Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L.

Well, I get the first original plug out of the motor and I immediately see that the threaded length on the plug I pulled out is much longer than the new Bosch 7962 plugs I bought a few weeks ago.

I ran up to Advance Auto and AutoZone, they show that the 7962 plugs are what is suppose to fit, but when I show them the plug I pulled out, we can agree that it obviously isn't correct.

What gives, I don't know why this is so difficult. Not to mention having to grind down the diameter of my 5/8" spark plug socket so I could get it to fit in the shaft to remove the plug. I put the original plug back in and will be heading to the stealership tomorrow to get an answer - the part # on the plug I pulled didn't show up as being available anywhere.

 

Almost 80 views and none of ya'll '08 4.7L 1500 owners did the plugs on your own?

 

According to www.boschautoparts.com The only plug for your truck is FR8TE2 and it fits all 16 locations.

I just had that same problem as well. I just went back and gave them part number FRR8TE2 and had them order them for me.

Before i had them order them i called the dealer and they said it took champions. I knew that wasn't right. Let me know what your dealership tells you

 

I hit up the dealership yesterday evening and got the plugs I needed (the FR8TE2 plugs made by Bosch). I'm not sure where people are getting their information regarding the Bosch 7962 (FR8LCX) plugs, but they will not work in the '08 4.7L, the threaded shaft of the plug is too short on those.

From the dealer the FR8TE2 plugs were $10.40/each.

You might be able to find them cheaper somewhere else, I just got tired of looking.

 

I just bought a 2006 quad cab 4.7 and the
PO threw a 2305 code/plus POOR run. He replaced
1 plug with BOSCH 4030 and one coil Pack, And
the truck RUBS FINE.

Still throwing the 2305 code though.

I plan on going to replace BOSCH with Champion
(Which ARE THE DODGE PREFERRED) plug
and asee if ionization indication improves.
I assume if the BOSCH is a different impedance
than the champion it will throw a code.
Other plugs are original 74 K miles.

The 4030 looks like the champion as to threads.
But may be a different heat range and impedance.

 

I dunno why the dealer would give you a Bosch plug, it's been my experience that Chrysler doesn't build an engine that likes them save the old slant 6 and the 4.0 straight 6. Use plain old Champion coppers...
