i have 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 4.7l 240 hp magnum and i have haul cars, bobcats, gravel, topsoil on a 16 feet trailer double axle and goes just fine.
the bobcat was heavy arround 7500 lbs and plus trailer arround 1000 lbs, so total weight was 8500 lbs a,d when i was supposed to merge on highway on a uphill ramp its was giving me 7 mpg, but on the highway was arround 10 mpg on 65mph. the Hemi should do better, has 1liter bigger engine and 100 hp more.

I have an 08 1500 hemi with sport pkg, bully dog turner and cai. We tow an enclosed 20ft v nosed car trailer. It is about 8k with the car and stuff. It tows it with no problems and we get about 9-12 mpg but we stay around 62 mph. For the must part I don't use the tow/haul opt on the trans. I let it run all the gears, unless it is very windy or hilly.

I do have the 20 in wheels and I think I have the smaller rear end 3.55.

Deduct 1000# towing capacity for 20" wheels as opposed to 17s, deduct 1000# towing capacity for 3.55 gearing as opposed 3.92s. You may still be well within capacity, but obviously you are not going to tow anywhere near as easily as the same truck with 17" wheels and 3.92s.

Of course, if I was gonna do a gear swap, I'd be looking at 4.10s minimum.

But I believe you have your answer...

I haven't really compared it yet. I just installed it again. With the MDS off and a 93 tune, I am getting about 18mpg in mixed driving. I just reinstalled the MPG tune today with the MDS off (due to my Magnaflow cat-back, it sounds bad when it kicks in) so It will take a week or so to relearn the adaptive habits before I can see the difference.
The MPG tune is more responsive than stock and has a lot of the torque management removed.
