Ongoing Aftermarket Remote Start Problem...HELP!!!
Had a Compustar aftermarket remote start put in my truck about a month and a half ago and have been having nuthin but problems with it. All i wanted installed was the remote start part on it and keep the existing keyless entry. So they got it done and after that week i pushed the remote start button, the trucks factory alarm would go off. Mind you it is 630 in the morning when everyone is sleeping. So i thought it was some type of fluke. The same day i went out hunting and walking back from getting done, i was down a long lane and thought i would try out the distance of the starter, so i pushed it and guess what, the alarm goes off again. So i took it back and they told me that they didnt hook up a wire that should have been hooked up. So i went a few days and worked great. Then all of a sudden, 630 in the morning again, i hit the button and the alarm goes off. Did that a few times that week, so i took it back to them again and they said maybe it was the bypass module that was bad, so they put a new one in and once again, it worked for a few weeks, then the past few days, my alarm has been goin off again. I am getting so frustrated right now. I live an hour away from the closest dealer that i have been takin it too and so i hate having to repeatevly take it to them all the time. Especially the fact that they are running out of ideas of what the problem could be. Of course when i take it to them all the time the trucks alarm doesnt go off. But sorry for so long, just had to vent and also see if any of you guys have had this problem or heard of anyone having this problem. My truck is a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500
i install alarms and it sounds like a bad control box compustar comes with a lifetime warrenty so sorry to say make another trip to the installer and insist that they change the whole system out. also make sure they are hooking up the factory alarm bypass. hope this helps i looked this up in my installer book make sure they are using a immobilizer bypass module part numberXK532 this will allow the factory alarm to be turned off without unlocking the doors allowing you to remote start the vehicle without the alarm going off sounds like they did not use this hope this helps

I don't have any specific fixes for you, but I do know that the installer makes or brakes the system. you can have the top of the line hardware, but if it is installed half a$$ed it won't be any better than the cheapest thing available.
I say you need to press the shop to have a different installer look at it, or pay for you to take it to another shop that knows what they are doing.
I have looked at the compustar units before, and that's what my wife has in her escape. there are a lot of wires, but it's pretty straight forward. for our truckes it's easier than most, because they "should" just use a CAN bus interface that ties right into the factory CAN bus system

Well i will be taking the truck again for the fourth time over to the audio store and told them that i want a different bypass put in and also want the brains changed out as well..so hopefully this fixes my problem..if not i dont know what to do..
what bypass kit are they using? i use the al blade. sounds like they may have downloaded the wrong soft ware.the door locks are controlled though the can bus wires so there should be no extra charge for door locks. before you remote start the truck unlock the doors with the factory remote then remote start it.if the alarm does not sound they will have to program the remote to cycle the locks before starting
Not sure on the bypass module that they are using but i do know that the last time i went there, they ended up programming the remote to "fake" unlock the door, which is just send a pulse to the brain that told it to unlock the doors and also had the bypass in line to prevent my problem, but the problem is there, so he told me that they are gonna put the most expensive bypass module in there this time which controls the door lock and everything else as well along with a new brain.

look up idata link and you can see what options of bypass kits there are for your truck. not slamming the guys that are doing your remote i had a couple that stressed me out ending up to be a miss placed wire flashing the brain to a newer year etc. i love the compustar got one in my truck and installed a lot with little trouble. did you try the unlock then start?
