I found a 2008 Laramie, 4x4, for sale at a great price. I'm suppose to meet the guy in the morning. The truck is registered in the country of Mexico. I told him that a 5.9 doesn't exist in 2008. He claims to be more than certain it is a 5.9. Any possibility it could be a custom order? Advice please.

 

The 6.7 was the only CTD in 2008.. 5.9 Non DPF ended in 2007, with the 2007.5s having 6.7s.

Get him/her to take a picture of the engine bay. That'll put the issue to bed fast.

 

Yea unless they swapped in a 5.9 there's no way. Unless its not an 08...

Yep, 2007 is a 5.9, 2007.5 is a 6.7. Haven't heard of any widespread injection pump issues in the '07 5.9s. The early 6.7s can be a nightmare though...

 

Does Mexico manufacture dodge diesels possibly?

 

It's possible they had a Mexico only model. Mexico had 2nd gen Ramchargers. We got cheated!

 

tenth digit of the Vin will indicate year...

7 will be 2007
8 will be 2008... etc etc..

Vin check is a godsend because so many people don't know what they drive... I never trust customers anymore lol.. Just check the vin and all the specs myself lol.

 

Export trucks do not play by our rules. It could very well be a 5.9L.
