Intermittant loss of oil pressure on 5.7

No loss of oil pressure or valve train noise. After a couple months of it doing this, I would just drive to work with the gauge showing no pressure and the check gauges light on just to save my starter. BTW when buying the part it is actually called an oil pressure SWITCH. I don't believe it is an analog device. There is only one wire connection, and because they call it a switch means on/off. I think the gauge is BS as someone posted before. Not saying this is for sure your problem, but it sure is cheap and easy to change out just to eliminate it.
