Default 2005 Ram 2500 4x4 Fuel System MYSTERY

Hey, y'all! I'm having some major issues with my truck and it's about to drive me insane. Hopefully, someone here will be able to shed some light on my issue(s).

Back on Memorial Day weekend, I was driving from Houston to Austin (180 miles). About halfway there, I was coming out of a small town and began to experience what felt like very strong headwind gusts. I quickly realized that it was the truck, not wind. As I accelerated toward 70mph, the truck would lose power and roll back to about 55 or 60. It kept doing this until it finally stalled in Austin after going up a rather lengthy incline. After about ten minutes, the truck started and I made it to my destination.

I leave it in Austin for three-plus weeks at a dealership where they couldn't figure out what was wrong. No check engine light, and no codes.

I get back to Austin, pick up the truck and it makes it back to Houston without issue until right at the very end where I could feel some of that hesitation.

I then take it to my usual dealer where it stayed for 3-4 days. They changed the oil and filters, but also couldn't find anything wrong. It seemed to run fine for several days, but then it began getting sketchy.

Pushing on the throttle, it just feels like something is obstructing the fuel flow. It has now stalled on me several times, but after sitting for a bit, it will start again.

I took it to a "guru" mechanic recommended by a friend where it sat for an additional 5 weeks. He couldn't figure it out, either, but I think he was more interested in eatin' peanut butter sandwiches. He said he scoped the tank and it was clean, although I'm not sure he did that either. When he said, "Yeah, it'll probably act up on you as soon as you drive out of here," I knew he was basically telling me he never touched it.

I have also had three mechanics come to the house and try to figure it out. They told me the injectors are good, but they can't figure it out either. WTF?????

I did learn from them that there is some minor blowback going on and the pinion seals in both diffs are leaking. Wonderful!!!

Now, back in May of last year, this same issue happened, but it was more without warning. It just flat out stalled on me at a buddy's ranch. Took it to the dealer where they told me that fabled "bad fuel" story and it cost me $2500 in repairs. They had to drop the tank and clean it and they did some other stuff, as well, but I don't remember off the top of my head. Ran fine for about another 35K miles.

So, that's where I am. Still on square one with no progress.

If anyone can shed any light, I'd be super appreciative!!

Thanks, y'all

Almost acts like a cat converter may be partially clogged and the longer you drive it, the more it backs up and loses power.

Hey LX! Well, it's really strange. When the guys were over here, they pulled the injector plugs, one by one. After that, the truck ran great for a little while. The next day, it was back to its usual.

I could go out right now, and it could run (almost) fine, or it could really be hesitant. At any rate, the guys said the injectors are not the issue, although I have not one clue how they know that from just pulling the plugs.

Now, about that cat converter... Where is it and how do I check that. I do have a manual, so I suppose I can grab it an take a look.
