04 Hemi Gas Mileage
two questions, i drive mostly around town and im averaging about 10.5 to 11 mpg, is that normal, and if not is anyone else having this problem
second question is my transmission was making a loud noise when shifting from reverse to park or reverse to drive, the dealer said it was normal and was just the parking dog engaging/releasing, is this also normal
this is an 04 dodge ram with a hemi
Help Please!

I have about 7500 miles on my '04 Hemi Quad Cab 4x4. For the first several thousand miles (like about 4500), my fuel economy in-town was around 10 - 11 mpg; highway around 13 mpg. Since then, however, my fuel economy has improved. Right now I'm averaging 13.5 - 14 mpg in-town and 16.5 - 18 on the highway. I drive very conservatively though, hardly ever punching the accelerator to the floor. Of course, these figures are in 2wd, not 4wd, and the numbers, while from the trip computer, have been verified by doing the math as well.
Hey BiffsBiz, you're my kind of guy. I too love the sound of my Hemi, especially after I put on a Flowmaster Muffler on it. I love driving down the street and setting off car alarms. I get around 9 to 10 miles per gallon, but now that gas prices are at $2.13 a gallon I tend not to stomp on it as much. (NOT)!!!
My 04 Quad Cab 4x4 with 1400 miles is getting 12.5 city and 15.5 -16.5 highway.

Matrix04,
I have the exact same symptoms with my new 04 Hemi. Its about 4 months old and Ive started noticing it more as time goes by. Same "clunk" when going from reverse to drive.
As far as gas is concerned, im averaging the same as you. Ive started looking at CAI's to help a bit.
