Will no muffler hurt my truck?
I cut the muffler off my ram 1500 a few weeks back and I'm happy with the sound I get. I haven't added extra pipe or anything just simply cut it right before the in-end of the muffler.
I've had a few reputable people tell me I will still have sufficient back pressure and then there's others that say I will burn up my exhaust valves and have one hell of a repair bill in short time.
Aside from a little lack of bottom end I don't notice much of a difference.
Does anyone know the truth to this?

And pipe the exhaust out the side or the back. You can have CO issues at idle if you are parked with the engine running and the exhaust is dumping out under the truck. Even under the bed, it's still accumulating under the truck and can find it's way into the cab. On the Fire Department we deal with this issue in heavy snow where people sit in their cars idling and snow around the vehicle traps it under the car.
I have a Thrush Glass Pack on my 4.7 and I love the way it sounds, nice and aggressive tone that you can hear inside and out.

It WILL warp the valve skirts and you will have to have your heads reworked, all motors relies on some back pressure. I would at least put a glasspack on it to give it some back pressure because I don't want to have to spend the money to pull the heads.
And what's a valve skirt?
