whining noise coming from front passenger side when I accelerate.
I have a noise like this from the drivers side that may be a precursor to the OP's problem and may help diagnose it.
Occasionally when accelerating from a stop I get a muffled noise like sliding a table across a waxed office floor. Or the shriek when trying to slide your chair up a little, but much quieter. I feel no vibration and I've seen a lot of failed bearings, but this doesn't seem like it to me.

Well the saga continues......I took my truck to a local shop and this is what they said/did....They said the noise was coming from the rear and that my rear axle had no oil in it and it was dry, but they saw no evidence of a leak they were puzzled and figured the previous owner must of did a seal change and didn't fill it back up. So they filled it with oil and the noise remains... then they said the damage was already done and the noise will not go away until I replace the rear axle, but I can drive for now but need to plan to replace the rear axle. I'm confused.. when I drive my truck I swear it's coming from the front..If I shell out the money for the rear axel and it doesn't fix it, I'm going to go off...What do guys think?
