Default whining noise coming from front passenger side when I accelerate.

New to the forum and looking for help....I have an 04 dodge 1500 hemi 4WD quad cab. When I press on the gas pedal and the truck picks up speed there is a whining coming from the front end passenger side. When I come to a stop it whines down and goes away. And then comes back when I speed up again. I am by no means a mechanic but I like to fix my truck myself if I can, thanks for your help.

I used to have a hell of nasty whine come from the passenger side of my truck all the friggin' time. I did about everything I could to get it to stop. In the end I fixed it - got me a divorce!!!

I lost about 140lbs that way. Feel a lot better for it too!

Seriously though, describe the whine. Wind/air or more metal on metal?

I have, and have had the same whine on my truck since I bought it. I had the wheel bearing go bad on that side (3 times actually due to the National recall), and it made a metal to metal roaring very different from the whine.
For me I will only appear when I press the accelerator after I am already up to speed, like when speeding up to 70 from 55, as soon as I lift my foot up off of the accelerator the whine goes away. Im curious now that I know someone else has the same problem.

It sounds like something is spinning, but it reminds me of my turbo on my old 01 cummins. when I'm going down the road and press on the gas it whines up and when I left off it goes away and when i come to a stop it whines down. BTW, loved the joke, I'm hoping this is little cheaper fix

if your hearing a whining noise and if it get louder as you speed up and lower as you slow down. i can almost garuntee that your hub has gone bad. happened to me on my last ram and found out it was the hub. its usally a $125-200 per hub depending on where you buy it at IMO i would buy from rock auto
