Default Remanufactured Engine

My son has a dodge ram 1500 Laramie with a 4.7 gas engine. 2wd and it has 126k on it. The head gaskets are gone and there is water all in the engine. I am also seeing sings the values are messed up also. Ok that gets me to me question.

I am looking at getting a remanufactured engine at a company called autoiweb, they sound really good, almost too good. Does anyone know anything about them period? Also any suggestion on a good company to go with for a remanufactured engine would also be appreciated.

Their URL is autoiweb.com. They are quoting me a reman 4.7 engine with 3 year 100k warranty including shipping for 2600$

Sorry if this is the wrong thread I just have to get this truck going. He starts paramedic school in January and will need it daily.

Stephen

Welcome to the forum. I've never heard anything about them, but maybe someone else has.

Never heard of them either, but that's impressive. That's about the going rate around here BEFORE freight and with just a 12 month/ 12k mile warranty...

Here in the northeast, Jasper owns the market on engines and trans. The only negative, they only deal through approved installers. Around here, that's about 50% of the independent service centers.

Nothing comes up for them on google either except advertising links. Even their homepage is designed just for search engine placement -- that and hijacking those searching for Jasper engines since it mentions Jasper *a lot* in the jibberish at the bottom of the page. You'd think you would find at least one story of someone using them from another auto forum yet there's nothing. The only forum it links to is this thread.

The domain itself has hidden registration and was created a year ago. That's another sign that they might not be what they claim. I'd go with Jasper or even Advance Auto Parts. It beats getting taken.

They emailed me a quote for $2050 for a 5.9 magnum engine shipped. But as John M stated, it's proving difficult to find any background info or independent reviews about that company. I really hate how on their own website they make it extremely difficult to find a physical address for them. Just an 800 # and an email address.

OP has common issues related to 4.7s. 2600 doesnt sound bad but ask what kind of records need to be kept in case something goes wrong. Does it have to be professionally installed by a shop? Ect.
