Imagine that, the dealer lying, or at least not knowing crap about what they are selling you. When I ordered my 05 in Dec of 04, he swore up and down that the 6 speed in my 1500, because I ordered the work truck ST version, was the same as the 6 speed in the HD trucks. I belived him, because my previous Dodges with manual transmissions were early 80's trucks with the granny 4 speed, which, unless I am wrong were the same heavy cast iron unit across the line. My 84 D350 dump has a granny 4 speed/318 2bbl combo from an 87 D150. Bolted right in, and looked identical to the 360 4bbl/4 speed granny that I removed when the engine finally gave it's all hauling 5 ton on the back, and pulling my 7,000 lb seamless gutter trailer home from a roofing job. Still runs good, but is just a bit down on power compared to the 360, but I had the engine/trans on the shelf, so it only cost me some time to put her back on the road. Sorry for rambling, but I have found that you just cannot belive anything the salesman tells you, their job is to sell it whatever it takes, screw the customer, the sale is all that matters. Have found a much better dealership, but have only used the service/parts dept so far, have not bought any vehicles yet, but am much pleased with the service. I miss the 4 speed TRUCK transmissions, they were bulletproof, never wrecked a single one.
