Getting a new car... sometime this week! (long post)

I love to support American too. But I shouldn't have to foot the bill for inferior craftsmanship and questionable longevity. If the Japs can build it, America can too. But until they start proving it, I'm sticking with the rice burners, except for the trucks. I never really worried about it before. I've owned many more american cars, from all of the big 3 makers, than I have ever owned foreign. But I used to drive whatever I had for 2 to 3 years and trade it on something else. I'm out of that mode now. Now that I've enjoyed having vehicles that are still reliable after being paid off, I don't want to go back until I have to.

Well I was going to try to find something older and way cheaper but honestly looking around at about 4 dealerships the oldest car we could really find was a 2004. I guess dealerships are junking the old cars that people trade in these days. I would be fine with the 4 banger 2010 R/T model that we found. The interior and the quality of it seemed excellent to me but then I guess I'm still young and naive to that stuff. That two tome leather in the Avengers is really awesome though.

If you want something old, hit up autotrader.com and enjoy. I'm old so I'd take a clean Lincoln Continental in a heartbeat. Very nice examples can be found for $5-6k, and FL is their Mecca. The DOHC 4.6 is plenty powerful, gets good mileage, and you can't beat the ride.
The line between domestic and import cars is too blurred to blindly stick to brand names anymore. The 300C has mostly Mercedes parts, our Ram can be built in Mexico, and Kias are built here in Georgia. My former Eclipse was built here in the US 20 years ago, but the Grand Marquis and Crown Vic have always been Canadian built.
People doubted me when I chose a Ram over the other domestics or even a Tundra. That was 6 years ago. The truck still looks and drives like new and I haven't had to spend a dime on it.
