Default 2002 EVIC Issues

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 and the EVIC console works intermittently. I can get it to work sometimes by toggling the key but without some wiggling and jiggling the EVIC doesn't work. The reason this is causing me a headache is the garage door open is programmed into the EVIC console. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

It could be a bad ignition switch. When they start getting funky, they can cause numerous intermittent problems with any of the switched circuits, e.g. heater, radio, overhead console, etc... But check all the connectors under and behind the dash first just to make sure its not a loose plug. Burnt wires in the ignition switch is a common problem that pops up in the forum, you can run a search for it to get some more info.

Seinfeld fan?

That sounds like a good place to start.I am new to the site and have a feeling I may be using it a lot as now I cant get the EVIC to come on at all.I will tear in to it after Christmas.

Oh yeah I am a Seinfeld fan .I am guessing you are as well seeing how you picked up on the Kramerica

Yeah this seems to be a pretty great forum Lot's of good members and information. Somewhere in our FAQ section is a thread about service manuals and in there another member posted a link for the 2002 manual.

http://www.berrysprinter.com/e-fiche...02-05/02DR.PDF

That's the link I found over a year ago, it should prompt you to start downloading the PDF immediately from that link - if it still works that is.

The Service Manual will prove very helpful, especially the wiring section, it'll show all the circuits and fuses and splice locations and wire traces etc... for all the components. It may not be the most user friendly document but once you get used to it, it's good.

Welcome to the forum and Happy Holidays!

Yeah, if you gotta wiggle the key to make it work then it certainly sounds like the ign switch
