Red face Dodge Tech. Help?

I recently bought a 06 3500 Laramie. As with all used vehicles, gremlins are showing up and I need to address them. I thought I would try to find someone that knows the trucks inside and out that can comment.

1) The sunroof aft section was not level with roof when closed. Found out a flash was available, which was done and surprisingly worked, but the roof still leaks when truck is not moving in heavy rain. The water comes in on the driver side window pillar top handle screw cap. Somehow the water is finding its way down the driver side pillar and leaking out.

2) turn signal intermittantly acts up. Sometimes the left signal is supposed to be on, but the right one lights up and blinks. If I put on the hazards only the left turn signal will blink. Sounds like a switch issue, but does a replacement include both the flasher switch and turn signal switch.
Are both seperate? Anyone heard of this issue? What is the fix and how easy is it to do? Any You Tube how to's?

3) I hear random thuds, guessing the AC. maybe the AC compressor. It sounds from in the cab someone hitting the frame with a rubber mallet. It comes from the passenger foot well area. Any guesses. ( Its a Cummins)

I opened up the headliner above the driver area by taking out the bolts on the A and B pillar. This allowed me to remove the front panel and shift the side pillar cover away to access the sun roof area by about six inches. ( I also removed the visor and then the visor attachment center pulls down, releasing the headliner) Just enough to reach in and pull the black ribbed hose off the sun roof assembly. I blew through it and it was clogged tight. I put some lysol liquid in it and let it set and then came back and blew through it again. I could hear a trickle. I followed the trickle and it came out of the end of the hose where the door hinges are. There is a small hose that has what looks like a star end that allows water out, but when the stream stops, it is self closing to prevent anything from going back up in the tube, ie bugs, mud wasps that like to plug holes or algea. Anyway I put a small tipped screw driver in it from accessing it in front of the door and fender. I wiggled gently. More sand and garbage came out. I then grabbed a glass of water and blew more water through it until it came out easily.

This hose runs down from the sunroof on both sides.

WHALLA!
Now in the future from time to time I will put a small screw driver in the star tipped hose end and keep it clear. Live and learn.....

Nice catch! Way to bond with your new truck and fix up the little things. As far as the turn signal issue my 06 does the same thing every once in a while.I believe its the wiring harness in the steering column getting pinched. I just adjust the steering wheel height, move it back a forth a bit and the issue seems to fix itself. This is a somewhat of a common issue with this model and some guys have taken it to the dealer to have the switch changed out and it still doesn't fix the problem. I believe several guys have taken the steering column apart and "beefed" up the wiring with more tape or rerouted it in some way. I registered a complaint with the DOT back in Aug. and as far as I know a recall hasn't been issued.
Hope this helps.

The crazy directional switch is a known problem and it goes back all the way to 03's too. It's part of their multiplexed wire, where there's one wire the computer senses the resistance on rather than a separate wire for each function. That sounds nice till that resistance gets off just a little from old age. Mine is getting really bad and needs to be replaced before it makes me mad enough to rip it off the column.

I haven't tried moving the steering wheel position. It hasn't budged in the last 6 years I've owned the truck.

The signal light thing can be fixed under a recall. Sorry, its not a public recall unless you ask about it at a dealer. I posted the recall some time back if you need the details, search my name. I had mine done under the recall last summer in the middle of a holiday. It turned up on the I5 south bound while towing a trailer. I was trying to merge right, and the damned thing only wanted to signal left. I found a work around was to turn on the hazards, which activated the flunky light.

The dealer replaced the component with an updated one that is supposed to work longer. $0 to me.

The thud is likely the compressor if you have A/C or Defrost turned on. The clutches seem to be loud in these trucks. My GM made a snap when it engaged, these are more of a thud.
