Default spark plug gap???

Hey Fellas

Gotta 2003 DR 1500 4x4 with the 4.7L V8; I need to change the plugs and ask if anyone can tell me what the gap should be for this engine. Thanks for your help. Cheers

Should be stated on the engine label under the hood.
Use basic coppers and I believe it's .040"

He asked about the 4.7L, not the Hemi, but I suppose it's good for Hemi owners stopping in..haha if that's what the fwiw was for?

Could a spark plug gapped at .040 vs .035 cause issues?

Hatch, I saw your post via E-mail notification, but here, ... It's deleted. Per My Haynes Manual for "Dodge & Plymouth Vans", "1971 through 2003" Pg. 1-2 6 3/8" down the page Left Column: "Spark Plug Gap (All engines, all years)................................... 0.035 inch" Your "Dodge learning curve " has indeed now turned out to be "a shocker". I Stand upon what I posted. Peace.

Yeah thanks and sorry for the bad post and botched delete (new-to-me forum teething symptoms). So it looks like you got in on the 2nd year of Gen 3, which was also the last year for that particular version of the 4.7L motor? It threw me when I discovered after posting that Gen 3 4.7L motors apparently spec'd .035" SPG before '04 and .040" in '06, per my under-hood sticker (verified by my Haynes manual). Dodge must have upgraded Ram cylinder heads and/or piston crowns/comp ratios, and whatever else (?) in '04 (?)

Sorry for the confusion. Dodge is all new to me, trying to soak this stuff up as I get my new-to-me '06 SLT 4WD 4.7L sorted.

Peace indeed.
