Default Warning: Anyone noticed issues in your front suspension after some time with a Level

I had always thought since the day I put in my Hell Bent level lift that it was hokey to turn the struts backwards and put them at an angle they are not designed for. Not to mention it has rode like **** since day 1! So I ordered up some Rancho QuickLift Struts and put them in this week. Well apon closer inspection of the stock struts I noticed one looked bent. Well today I decided to pull the spring retainer off and see what the issue was.

The top strut mount bushing was toast along with the retainer! In my opinion this is 100% due to the fact the struts were turned backwards and that put so much strain that it just wore into itself. In my opinion this shouldnt happen in 19.000 miles

So this is where the issue is at the top of the strut

Here it is all apart

The bushing inside the retainer totaly wasted

And the retainer wasted

Anyone one with a level that turns the strut backwards like Hell Bent should go do a very simple check! All it takes is a screw driver to slide the bump stop rubber thing down and a flash light so you can see up in there.

When you go out to look at the strut the this rubber is in the way of what you are looking for.

Take the screw driver and simply slide it down you wont hurt any thing it is free floating.

And here is what you are looking at, this was the good one. If yous is screwed up it will be on the outside right where you can see it.

That's a good catch there and may be a very good reason why so many with coil over fronts are complaining of bad vibrations when leveling their trucks while others have no real problems...

Just because you arent realy noticing an issue doesnt mean its not still there. If the ride gets bad a tiny bit at a time over the course of years you more then likely wouldnt even notice the ride quality getting worse. I changed mine out of personal prefrence looking for a better ride in the rough stuff not because it was broken.

My 07 did the same exact thing and it was 100% stock. I don't think this has anything to do with your previous lift. My retainers looked the same upon replacement. I actually added a 2" level when I replaced them.
