Hypertech Programmer trouble (2005 Hemi)...
Well,
Today I was going to install the hypertech (#50013) on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie with the Hemi.
I went through all of the introduction and it installed the tuning up to 100 % and then a screen came up saying "CALIBRATION NOT FOUND" and it gave me the hypertech phone # to call. According to the manual, this means that the programmer cannot recognize the vehicle computer.
Well I called and left a message for a tech to call me back tomorrow. Right now, I have disconnected my battery and by doing so "resetting" some settings on the computer. Then I will give it another shot to install.
If this doesnt work, tomorrow I am asking them to send another one before I send back this one right away or explain to me how to get it to work. Or I want a full refund which I know wont be a problem.
Ive never heard anyone say it didnt work on their 03 or 04.....what about 05 Hemi guyz???
My engine mods only include: a Mopar CAI (and TBS) and a Corsa RSC Sport Catback exhaust.

yea its the right one. The screen says for Dodge Trucks 2003-2005. and the barcode on the back says for the dodge ram 5.7 hemi.
I might just make them refund me my money. I like how in the back of the booklet if gives you "true" dyno numbers. In the manual for the unit they claim on HIGH octane (93) only yeilds 12-14hp and like 15 lbs/tq.
You have to BUY the unit first though just to see how weak the gains are. They wont tell you on the site that you only get 10hp because no one would buy it.
Also...visit Hypertech.com and look at the testimonials. Notice how they are al 2005 Dodge Ram 5.7s and not 03-04s. Look at the pictures that people "supposedly" send in....they look like they were all taken at the summit of Mt. Everest. FAKE NONSENSE. and they all said...."WOW I GAINED 4MPG!"
bull****!
These things are all a gimmick.... only reason i bought it was because a dealer on ebay had a buy it now at 289 with free shipping...it was worth seeing what its about. Most places i see them sold for between 330-375....rip off.
I hope people read this post. Save your money....dont waste it on a hypertech.
"UP TO 26 HP and 40 lBS/TQ".......yea right on what application?? I cant wait to get them on the phone tomorrow.

Well...I spoke with hypertech this morning and told them my vehicle information and setup a return authorization.
I am sending them back the unit, the engineers are going to read my program and decide how to incorporate the hypertech into my computer. The rep told me they might have missed something for the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 (AWD..laramie) models.
Come to think of it....the only 05 guyz I have spoken with that have the tuner have a 2wd model. or selectable 2wd and 4wd. Since I have the AWD-4wd...it is rare than most cases.
They should have it back to me within 2 weeks with an updated tune.

That's good, laramie, and I think your judgment of the Hypertech programmer may have been a little harsh (but understandable considering the problem you had with it).
I've had absolutely no trouble with mine and, although I haven't had a chance to get 'er hooked up to a dyno yet, I'm convinced my '03 Hemi has more power, runs better, and has been generally "opened up" more with the Hypertech programming installed. Sure, there's probably a certain amount of "sugar pill" effect going on, but this is my 2nd Dodge truck and I think I can tell when changes are made whether I'm truly getting any benefit out of them.
Good luck with your programmer. I think you'll like it once you get it flashed in there properly.

Your posts are confusing... first one reads like you want to make the unit work, next you're returning the unit stating it's a p.o.s. and fraudulantly presented, and the next you are accepting a new unit with a new progrom.
What gives?
I have doubts at this point you will ever be happy with the results no matter what they are. btw, it's pretty well known and reported (here in the past and on other sites) that the minor tuning such programs do is not worth much in the way of gains on the '05 hemi. I appreciate your discontent with the stated figures by Hypertech, though... when you see the "real" ones. That is reason enough to return the unit, imho.
Oh well, all the best no matter what you finally do; and thanks for the additional info.

well...when i spoke to the tech...he told me i could not exchange because they want the programmer back with info from my vehicle computer so they can update the tune.
Then I asked him about a refund and they told me I will not get a refund unless they cannot solve the problem. So I am kind of stuck.
I wasnt originally going to buy one.....Didnt think it was worth it. But I was getting bored and wanted another toy before I add my headers in a few weeks. Found this on ebay for 290 shipped and was like...at that price its good. But low and behold....They have my 300 bucks and I have a useless tuner as of now. I am sending it back tomorrow and hopefully they can fix the tune and provide the update and it will work.
It seems the better gains were to be had with the 03-04 hemis not the 05's but of course they falsely advertise 16hp and 26lbs/tq for 2003-2005 Hemis. It may hold true for the 03's but the dyno graph they provide upon purchase is much weaker! thats BS and when i mentioned it to the tech he didnt know what to say of course.

I would not use a tuner with headers.
Can cause a lean mixture and burn the pistons.
If you has Hypertech - they will likely tell you that if bad things happen with the combo - it will not be their fault.
