How to disable alarm horn
I have a 2005 Ram 1500 with the dealer supplied alarm. When I use the key fob to set the alarm it honks the horn (twice). If I lock the truck with the inside door locks it gives two short honks, then gives another quick honk when I close the door. How do I turn this off without disabling the alarm? I park my truck right next to my neighbors window, and if I have to open/close my truck late at night it is SO LOUD! When I set the alarm in the underground parking at work, it sometimes sets off other alarms.

This may be going in the complete wrong direction, but my 06 came with the alarm and I was able to disable the horn. These are the directions for the 06.
Standing outside of the vehicle hold the lock button on the key for at least 4 seconds, but not more than 10. Continue holding the lock button and press and hold the panic button. Release both buttons at the same time. The horn is now disabled while locking the doors.
On my 05 I did not have the alarm, but I followed a similiar procedure. I think you had to have the key in the ignition and turned to the "on" position - don't start the engine. Press and hold the lock button for at least 4 seconds, but not more than 10. Continue holding the lock button and press the unlock button. Release both buttons at the same time. I know this procedure worked, but I can't remember if it disabled the horn while locking the doors or if that made all doors unlock if the driver opened the driver's door first.
In either case I found it in the owner's manual. I hope this helps.

I tried the first procedure using the lock and panic button without any change. However doing the second procedure changed the arming alert from a dual horn blast to a half chirp. It's much better than the original. My neighbor will thank you for not waking him up anymore!
Lock your door with your key or while the driver's door is open, lock the power lock with the lock switch and then close the door. I can arm mine this way and it works without cirping the horn.
If I lock the doors with the key or by using the inside door switch it chirps the horn 3 times and activates the alarm. When I slam the door it then honks again as if somone had tripped the motion sensor.
Performing the second described function changed the arming from a double honk to a shorter half honk.

on my 03. i got in and closed the door. turned key to on but not started. pressed the lock button on fob longer than 4 sec but not longer than 10. while pressing the lock button press the unlock button also. you should get a bell in the cab. release the fob, turn off truck . get out and try the lock button. i did this and if removed the honk altogether. silent on lock and unlock. hope this helps.

Yeah I tried that, and a sherman tank suddenly appeared, followed by all the cars on the screen blowing up. LOL.
Anyway, I'll try the key fob thingy again. I think they may have a different sequence on 05 models.

Tried the owners manual process on my new '06 and never got the chime. It's a pretty straightforward procedure, I am pretty sure I didn't screw it up - anybody else seen this on 06's?
