Hi all. Really need some help please. Truck has not been used for last month but in that time the battery has gone flat. I have put in a new one but the Truck now just cranks but will not fire up. I plugged the tester into the OBD Port but this now comes up with communication error. The alarm and immobiliser have been tested and are okay. There is also no spark at the plugs. The Truck was running fine with no problems prior to the battery going down.
Any help please would be great.
Cheers

The no communication error is most likely from the dead battery. I've had the same error message after replacing my battery. You should be able to reset your DTC codes. if you dont have a scanner or tuner to do so, unhook both battery terminals and touch them together and hold then together for 20seconds. If you changed the battery rather quickly, then there may have still been charge on some of the pcm capacitors to retain the communication error message.
I'd check the gas and make sure your not hydrolocked or have moisture on your plugs.

Hi,
Thanks for reply. The battery was taken out and left out for a couple of days while trying to get a charge in it before finally replacing it.
The plugs have been out and there is no moisture on them.
If I sit in the truck and have the ignition on, I can hear a thumping (fuel priming or relay?) and the fuel gauge and battery gauge come up to their levels, when the thumping stops both gauges go down to empty.

These trucks and their electronics are real picky over having a good fully charged battery.
All sorts of errors can be generated by a flat battery on these trucks, so what your seeing is not unusual.
Stick the new battery on charge and fire her up again. This time, go for a 15 mile run to get everything properly warmed up and the charge back into the battery you've just used, to start her up.
Don't have the radio and fan blower and any un-nessessary electricals running, until this 15 mile run is completed.
