Exhaustion Frustration
I just need to vent and share some information. I hope that some of you will/can learn from my mistakes. I have been a member of this site for quite some time and used to moderate, at one time. I have not logged in for a while. Nothing personal...just life. Things get crazy.
Recently, I took my '04 Ram in for it's second smog inspection. Now, I live in California (automobile HELL)...the land of "you can own a vehicle, but we won't let you modify it". As previously stated, this is the second smog check (it passed the first one...2 years ago). After the first smog inspection, I figured that all the mods I had done to my Ram were legit and okay (Headers, high-flow cats, custom X-piping, single exhaust to a dual, etc... I was in heaven!!). At this point, I tossed/sold my old exhaust manifolds and scrapped the rest. Long story, short it failed a visual inspection thus, failing smog inspection. After taking it to a "smog ref", I have learned that all mods made to my exhaust have to be removed and all put back to OEM for it to pass smog. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! $2500 in parts and labor, for the exhaust I want!!! Now, I have to scrap it and pay more money to return an exhaust that I DO NOT WANT!! I am so pissed!!!!!
Anyhow, I needed to vent. Feel better...slightly. Don't let this happen to you, my fellow Dodge Forum freaks. Peace.

That stinks - but if you have the CARB certification for all the parts, it should pass then. I know that several of my buds that mod their Corvettes, they take the CARB certifications for all the parts and they pass inspection.
All parts are CARB certified. It doesn't make a damn difference. CA is pissing me off. There are some places where I could get it smogged, as is (legal smog $30, illegal...$200??). But is it worth the headache? I think I am going to bite the bullet and not have to deal with this b.s. every 2 years. Will put the headers up for sale. I love the truck too much to sell it.
