Just Installed Omega/Excalibur Remote Start!!!
I just installed an aftermarket remote start in my 07 QC Hemi. It works great. Just wanted to share what I learned about the install. The truck is closed up, and I didn't take any pictures, but its a pretty easy install. The hard part is knowing which parts to get and where to get them.
I would normally have gone with the MOPAR remote start, but there are a few problems with it:
1) It adds an extra keyfob with a button that you have to carry around.
2) Requires a window mounted antenna
3) Not compatible with Mopar EVS I factory security system!
Since I already had the EVS I security system, I researched aftermarket systems. Any aftermarket RS system you install will need a (momentary) Sentry immobilizer bypass.
So the install required three parts, the immobilzer bypass, the remote start kit, and a data harness to connect the two modules and plug into the dodge ignition harness.
The parts you need are:
*Omega/Excalibur OL MDB-ALL, flashed with CH5 firmware ($75)
*Omega/Excalibur RS-130 Remote start kit ($60)
*OL-HRN-CH5 wiring harness for dodge/chrysler ($30)
You can find the wiring diagrams on caralarm.com. They are very good, and there is a tech support line I called a few times to verify wiring.
The wiring is simple, you connect the remote start and immobilizer together with the harness. There are only a couple solder joints between the remote start and the immobilizer "brain". The only other connections are +/- to the battery, and tapping into the parking lights. Most of the connections are handled by the harness/data cable, and the harness plugs in-line with the ignition module.
If you can find the install directions for the Dodge Ram EVS I system, it will show you how to open up the dash and tap the parking lights.
This thing works great. Just tap lock-unlock-lock on the factory key, and the truck starts up. Now I wont freeze in the mornings. And the EVS alarm is still functional.
You need to get the Ol-MDB-ALL flashed to CH5 firmware to be compatible with the 3rd gen ram. You can buy these parts and get them flashed from autotoys.com.
Good luck!

It has a T harness. You dont have to touch any ignition wires. You just plug it inline to the ignition, wire +/- battery, and tap the parking brake light. There is also a single wire connect between the remote start and sentry bypass unit that isnt handled by the harness.

Gotcha -- I didn't look closely enough at the pic to see if the T was for the ignition or just the can bus interface. I was an Excalibur dealer 20 years ago and I have now put this on my must-have list for my truck. I'd love to integrate remote start with the stock fob and minimal wiring.
Glad I could help. I researched all the remote starts and this is the most sophisticated and best supported.
If you look at the installation instructions for OL-MDB-ALL, 07 dodge ram, I used the "type 8" installation, which requires almost no wiring. Some of the other wiring methods for other models and years require a bit more involved install, but still easy.
I just checked the install instructios for an 03 hemi, and you will need a different immobilizer bypass module (they have many). The one I installed is for 06+ dodge/chrysler. If you dont have sentry in your truck, the install may be much easier.
