How to remove a cover on gear shifter
I bought a used 2005 ram 1500 few years ago and it came with aftermarket heated seats in the front. Found out only the drivers side worked and there are on/off switches for both driver and passenger side seats. These switches were mounted on the front of the manual 4x4 gear shifter case on the floor. I called the previous owner of the truck and he indicated when he first got it neither of the heated seats worked but he had a friend at a dealership take a look and found out it was simply unplugged. It was plugged in and then it worked. He said he never bothered to check the passenger side because he never had anyone riding with him. Well I would like to get the passenger side heated seats working but do not have a clue what to look for. I inspected underneath the passenger seat and have followed the wires best I could and they all appear to be plugged in. I'm wonder if the wires to the on/off switch are maybe unhooked but I cannot figure out how to remove the cover from the manual 4x4 shifter case. There are no screws and it just seems to be hooked to something but I dont know where. Can anyone give me some advice?

Check out that thread for the service manual for your truck, that will help you with all the wiring for everything. I've never pulled up my floor shifter yet, but with most trim pieces if there aren't any screws they usually just pop in and out (with a little bit force). Most auto part stores sell "trim sticks" or trim removing tools to help separate the pieces.
