Now if you go that route, wiring a completely separate circuit for your headlights, wouldn't you still have to add in some resistors to the stock circuitry to take care of the "lamp out" issue. Kind of similar to when people do the HID upgrades. correct?

No, because he'll never use his headlight control for the headlight position. If that switch never gets moved to the headlight position, the tipm will never be able to tell if there are or aren't bulbs there.
Besides, I havent had a lampout cel on my 2008 and have no resistors plugged in! 2006 may be different, but i just pulled mt DTC codes(non cel related) and there was nothing regarding my hanging pigtails!

Oh ok, my 02 acts differently. when I had trouble with my low beam light I got the lamp out before I even turned on any lights. But when the high beam was out I didn't get the lamp out until I switched on the high beams.

Completely different. Started using TIPM in '06 and that sh*t is voodoo to me. Seems like everybody I know who has screwed around with lights ended up dropping $1100+ at the dealer for a new module and installation. Personally, I am glad I have good, old fashioned relays and fuses although if you get on a StarScan there are a lot of options regarding light functions for the TIPM trucks...

thanks for the suggestion dog. behind the grill are 2 knockoff KCs w/130 watts upgraded from 100w. the KCs put out a nice pencil beam but the brights do a nice job towards the sides. besides i already have 4 real KCs on top (see sig pic) but i dont llike to use them on road for obvious reasons. and i dont have real room for 2 more KCs below the headlight line without adding a bar, which im not keen on doing.

I'd reccomend throwing a set of HID's in your fogs. i got mine from HIDExtra and they were $60shipped. They DO NOT blind oncoming traffic as the fogs are pointed down towards the ground, but they defintaley illuminate the sides of the road and the perimiter of the truck nicely.
I'd go with 4300k if you want to try and match your halogens so you dont make them look super yellow although they will slightly anyways. Ihave thier 5000k and they are def a blue color as seen in my sig.
Fogs are NOT tipm or canbus controlled like the headlights are so you are safe there! I would still reccomend asking for a relay harness and installing one(they provide for free) as it prevents excessive arcs on all of the switches contacts upon start-up.

great idea except the fogs are rubber housing tractor light like youd get at tractor supply that mounted up in the holes with ease and look like factory but were only like $12 each. they arent upgradeable though.
