Question p0700 code

I have a 2004 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi that wont start. I had just finished putting gas in and couldn't start after. It comes up with a p0700 code. Anyone familiar with this problem?

usually means time to replace or rebuild the the trans.

It normally has to do with solenoid or clutch failure.

When was the last time you dropped the pan and changed fluid and filters

Never. I never had any problem with the trany, alwys sent it to the dealers for regular maintenance. Not sure if I remember the dealer telling me they did that. Stupid question: why would that problem not make my truck start? Thanks in advance for your help!

If its been to the dealer regularly then they will have records of everything done.

That code wont stop the truck from starting but there are lots of threads where filling the tank up will cause that issue.

Can't go back to the dealer, they closed down a few months ago. I only have $20 in gas in there, that's about 1/4 tank. I don't understand, it was running fine until I stopped for gas. It seems like there's no gas going through the system. Would the trany codes shut the fuel pump down? I'm able to start it by spraying starting fluid but then it shuts down. I've had this truck for 7 years and I never had a problem or any indication that there was one.

Start with the basics, are you getting fuel at the rail??? Better yet, do you hear the fuel pump kick on???

^^^ Agreed. I thought you filled the tank up completely. As Hammer said, basics first. Air, fuel, spark, timing, ECT

Well he's getting spark, since it'll fire up with starting fluid, but the fact it stalls basically as soon as the fluid is burned off tells me it's not getting fuel, hence why I suggested he start with the pump and at the rail...
