Thermostat
Does anyone have any experience with darale 16736 , or any darale probe type thermostat? I put a electric fan on my Ram about 1.5-2 years ago. The relay wiring kit i bought came with this type of probe ther. The first one i had was bad (wouldnt ohm out when heated). So i ordered a new one put it on and everything has been fine since. Last night i noticed while parked for a while eith the truck running it heated up quite a bit....Im 90% betting its the thermostat again. Do these only last a year or so? I havent trouble shot the thing yet but im betting thatd the problem. Thanks for the help...
Since im not getting any info on that question...Is there a spot you can install a electric fan thread-in thermostat in the motor? Other than removing the factory temp gauge and using that.. Replies to both posts would be great.
What year and which engine do you have? My '08 4.7L has a threaded plug in the coolant outlet that goes to the upper radiator hose. I bought the flex-a-lite coolant temperature sensor that threads directly into the hole and plugs directly into the fan controller. The thermistor that pokes through the radiator fins and came with the flex-a-lite efan was garbage.
Im running a Hayden 3647 fan controlled with my Taurus fan and a Stinger 80A relay to run it on high speed.
you can buy inserts on ebay that go in the upper rad hose to allow you to thread a sensor in it

Flex-a-lite 32050 Temperature Sensor
If there's nothing on your engine that allows that to be threaded in, there's an upper radiator hose adapter that allows you to cut the hose, and install this in between:
Flex-a-lite 32082 In-Line Hose Adapter
There are different models for different diameter hoses, so make sure you grab the right one.
