Default broken valve spring and ecm issues

ok..my 03 dodge ram 1500 5.7.was been at the garage for three weeks now and the mechanic is throwin parts at it..hope maybee you guys can help me as this is my main company truck..was at a red light started runnin rough and then died would not start unless pumped the gas.and ran very rough, shakin spittin and sputterin.brought it to a local shop he replaced ecm, throttle body, app sensor.with no change at all.i read a post on here about a broken valve spring and sounded just like my problem.asked him to check and sure enough there was one broke.replaced and now truck ran better so he said he heard a vacume leak and the intake manifold was cracked replaced that.now the truck will idle and is better but has no power. and the code 2106 will not go away.then he said the plugs were fouled and the cat was plugged.put in new plugs and he removed the cat..and it still runs the same.i would greatly appreciate any help.he says it is electrical cause that code comes up instantly and will not erase out..it is just hard for me to believe that all those parts went bad at once..i feel the he is missing something stupid..and has complete tunnel vision on the problem..just remember i found the only proven thing wrong with the truck on here the valve spring...please help me

Probably cause he hasn't reprogrammed the new throttle body yet.

You don't have any more codes at all?

Sounds like he's playing the "let's swap this out and see if it helps" game. Plus, if he couldn't diagnose a damn broken valve spring - the wrong guy is f*cking with your truck...

For sure, sounds like a "Toaster" mechanic, you know, one of those guys who just keep replacing things until he finds the problem. You actually might be better off taking it to the stealership.

Well said. How could a truck be running fine then die suddenly and need (all at once) all those new parts? I would get my truck out of there ASAP.

My 03 Hemi was brand new and I drove from Oklahoma to Houston, Texas and started experiencing the same engine problems. Since it was brand new, I took it to a local dealer in Houston, thinking that was the right thing to do. They checked it out with their computer analyzers and said it was an O2 sensor, then they accused me up using contaminated gasoline, then they changed all 16 plugs. I had to fly back to Oklahoma. Three weeks later, I get a phone call telling me that a rep. from Chrysler out of Detroit was in town and diagnosed it as a broken valve spring. It sad when these young techs rely on the computers and no longer can think for themselves, thus developing no experience. Fast forward 142,000 miles, same truck had a cracked intake manifold, but this time I took it to a reputable mechanic who had a computer and experience. As for the new Throttle Body, I think the reply about not letting the trucks computer program it, may be valid.

What a difference...they have come along way with that truck!!! Now the bad got my truck back.what a joke,he called me and said that it runs alot better and come and get it.got there and it still runs like ****!!!it is alot better but not right, did i mention he said i owe him $1700.it almost came to blows in his parking lot!!! I got it back for $800 i guess i can live with that...the truck runs better it will idle but lumpy.it is sluggish in acceleration when it gets to speed it runs alot better..it seems like a bent valve.i see alot of broke springs but dont hear any bent valves... Any ideas..i thjink i might pull the heads this weekend and have them checked... Dont want to go there unless it seems that could be the problem any help would greatly be appreciated thanks guys....
