That bulb is horrible. There is an LED alternative for it:

02 and on, you had to have it as part of an option group. It's easy enough to add if you really want it.

I have a SLT also. Adding it wouldnt be that hard, since my truck lights up the night. Is there a harness for it that is easily accessible.

Can somebody post a pic of the factory underhood light. I am curious to see it.

My truck with a sticker price of $37,700 didn't even come with an underhood light. It's an optional "convenience" package that includes a glovebox light as well. What a joke.

you could probably add a LED light strip or 2 under the hood. i have seen a couple of people do it and it looks good. it would not be too hard to add. i would maybe guess it might cost no more than $20 for all you would need to install led's unless you want to go with a stock light.
