Hmm, mines an 04 SLT with a glove box light but no light under the hood. I see an empty pigtail on the pass. side that I figured was for the light but looking at the above pic, it seems the wire goes over to the drivers side.

WOw, really. Thst dinky POS is an option. Something we extra for. I would have told them to shove it, but Im sure it came with your trucks. What a crock if donkey poo.

Good job chrysler in alluminating the hemi hat.

Glad I can just wire my own then.

Thank you for taking the time to post the pics. I like being informed and I never knew that was an option or even came on the trucks. Seems the "convenience" package should have included the hood struts (since they are convenient) and the non-existent tailagte lowering spring/strut.

I hate when management gets in the way of engineers. Really, just to make another million. Engineers are good, management is what needed the bailout

Yeah 2002's are on the left side with the ambient temp sensor mounted to the hood (at least the one I saw was).

My 03 SLT Hemi doesn't have that light....but looking at it in the pics.....I'm glad it doesn't as it looks useless.

You're not missing anything, it does provide some light, but if you're actually trying to do something you need a flashlight or a droplight anyway. Those bulbs constantly go out as well, I'm glad it isn't tied in to the lamp out warning system, it'd be going off CONSTANTLY.

So that connector is live only when hood goes up? What tells the underhood light to turn on?

i would guess there is constant power at that plug and there may be a mercury switch or something like it mount on the hood or in the light housing.

Yeah the switch is in the housing itself, whether it's mercury or whatever it senses level and kills the light.

Mercury. hmmmmm. There has got to be a plunger switch somewhere. Like the door switch. Either way, they prob should be replaced. I like light and will be adding one soon. I will post pics. I am very happy with the performance of the autozone led strips. The power required is so low it almost does not work in triggering a relay and the light output is quite high and the cost is 29.99 for the higher output lights
