You might want to check your splash guards. They are shields that protect your rotors. Very possible one is rubbing on your rotor. Very disconcerting sound. You do not have hub bearings, as you are 2wd. You do have wheel bearings, but if they were bad, you would have constant noise, like a grinding, but it would be consistent. My guess would be the splash shield.

Splash guards are very easily bent, especially during a rotation/alignment. It is very easily remedied with only hand power. The only U-joints you have are in your driveshaft. Any failure would not manifest itself in your front end. You would most likely feel a shake in the rear of the truck.

Thanks for the reply, I will tear the front wheels off this weekend when I am off and see if the splash guard is bent in any way.. I quickly looked at it when I had the wheel off the other day but didnt notice anything ! But again it was a real quick look didnt really give it much thought at the time, but I do know what you are talking about because my wifes ford taurus had a bent guard and omg what a horrible noise. Hopefully that is all that is the problem if not I will break down the front end and look at the bearings if the problem is not solved !

When I did my hubs, I removed the splash shields. Didnt see much use for them. I dont suggest it, but my factory 20s do a great job of holding mud inside them and it greatly affects driveability. They seem to just help hold in more mud
