Default Amber headlight strips light up?

When i put new headlight bulbs and turn signal bulbs in my front headlight assemblies last week, i noticed that thier are plugs in the bottom portion of the headlights. I went and turned my headlights on and then tried each turn signal and these lights on either side never illuminated.

So my question is, are these bulbs likley both burned out? if not, when are they supposed to turn on? I cannot recall every noticing them being on.

If your talking about that cool looking amber strip only found on the 06's.....
Then yes there is a small bulb for each one to make it illuminate and set it apart from the later 2 years

Someone prob pulled them because they didn't like the amber strips being lit up. Or, if your the original owner, then yeah, they are burnt out.

Yes i have an 06' and yes i found where the bulb goes. My question is WHEN is it supposed to light up? As a running light when the headlights are on? As a turn signal? or both?

It just seems odd that with over 100k miles i have never had to change a single light bulb on this truck. (I just did my headlights because i wanted brighter bulbs and did the turn signals at the same time because i figured i already have the headlights off, why not?). So why is every bulb on this truck still going strong but both of the Amber strip bulbs are burned out? That is why i was asking when they should be on.

I am the original owner. I just never recall seeing them on, ever. But then again, i was never specifically looking at them. It's rare that i am out of my truck with the headlights on and looking at the front lights.

They're just parking lights.
And they don't light up too bright. Barely noticeable during the day and even at night with the headlites on.

Was thankfully able to pull both bulbs without pulling the headlight housings again. Just reached in from behind. Both bulbs were visibly burned out so i replaced both.

Was surprised though that they both burned out. They are the same bulbs as the License plate lights and are obviously on for the same amount of time as the License plate lights. Yet my license plate lights were still working fine when i swapped them for LED's last week.

In any event, thank you all for the help.
