Default 05 Parking Light Wire Question

Ok, so I have a 2005 1500. I am looking to disable the amber parking lights when the headlight is turned on, but still have the turn signal function properly.

So my question is, is there a lower power wire that I can simply cut to disable them? If so, is it Wht/Bwn? Wht/Grn? Or is it more complicated?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Nick

The colors are actually:

White/Brown Stripe

White/Black Stripe

Black/Brown Stripe

I just want to kill power to the front parking lights, not the rear. Any ideas or knowing solutions would be great.

Because it is response vehicle for our fire department and have strobes in that section and want to accomplish as much reflection as possible, and the parking light kills a lot of the reflection/flashback.

Im assuming this is a city truck or has permits for strobes?

If not, expect to be pulled over and ticketed.

With all that being said, it wont work they way you are thinking as to just cut a wire to disable parking lights but retain turn signals. However, you might be able to put the headlights on a switch and leave the parking lights physically turned off so that you can still retain turn signals when needed.

I understand the laws and dont need to be preached at about those. Its a City Vehicle with FIRE DEPT on the side. Its well capable of having strobes.

I dont want to have separate switches though, guess I will have to keep investigating. Thanks

Hemi1500, download the service manual for your truck from Weedahoe's signature links if you don't have it already. I'm looking through mine and it looks like it may be done (I'm pretty sure 02 through 05 have the same lighting and wiring) Section 8W-52 is turn signals. Mine shows a pink wire / violet stripe for Left side park lamp and a Black wire / yellow stripe for the right side park lamp feed. light green for the turn signal driver. Different years might have different color codes. Once you verify the correct wires that feed just the parking lamp side of the bulbs, wire them up through a relay. HammerZ71 is really good with a relay if you have questions, but I would wire the relay so when you activate the strobe lights it will open the circuit for the parking lights, then when you turn off the strobes the parking lights will work as normal. You will very likely get the annoying "lamp out" warning whenever the strobes come on and the parking lights go out.

Its not called preaching, its called trying to help. If I didnt mention it and you (like most people DONT know) then we would have people coming back asking why we didnt warn them.

With all that being said, IDK what strobe kit youre running but the ones the cops and emerg vehicles have here are extremely bright. Having normal lights on while running them doesnt drown them out at all.

With it being a city vehicle, why not let their tech dept handle it?

Thank you Casey, Appreciate the help. My Drivers side has a Wht/LtGrn, and a Wht/Yell, and my passenger has a Wht/Gray and Wht/Tan (along with both having a ground). The strobe is on a separate power source and switch (of course). So the control box in the back seat of the truck, switch is by the driver. So I would need to run wire to a relay and a split wire to the marker light?? I will see if I can get a hold of the member to see if he can assist me with it. Again, thanks for the help.

Using a Whelen CSP. Its a Vol. Depts, thus we are the techs. Its amazes me, instead of people attempting to help, you get second guessed and ran through the mill.

No. I ask questions because most guys come here wanting to do something and have little knowledge of what their getting into and give even less info about how they got into thier situation

I already told you the best way but you said you didnt want to use switches.

Sorry if me asking questions to help you out bothers you but if i dont ask then i dont know everything i might need to tell you. So maybe calm down a bit, regroup your patience and understand im only trying to help.
