I have used Mobil 1 fully synthetic since trucks first oil change, tick was there this last oil change went with Royal purple HPS 5w 20 and i know it sounds crazy but i noticed a huge difference and how truck ran smoother and more respsonsive but tick is a little worse. I am using royal purple on everything from now on, tranny fluid, gears etc stuff is amazing.

I've run Royal Purple in my HEMI since the day I bought it. People around here were complaining saying the Royal Purple is overpriced and the Mobile 1 is better for a cheaper price. I figured I'd give it a try. Did my oil change last week, just hit 65k miles. Well, let me tell you, my tick went from non-existing to louder than hell! I'll be spending the extra coin to go back to Royal Purple, probably before my next change is due.. Just my

I have 60,000 miles on my 06 Hemi. I've been running Royal Purple in mine since I got it at 30,000. It has always had a slight "tick". When my "tick" got really noticable, I took it to a local shop, and they found that the exhaust manifold studs had broke or rusted off, and the loud tick was an exhaust manifold leak. They fixed the manifold issue, and it was back to the old slight tick. Maybe it's not your oil?
What type of tick ?! I have not heard any ""tick""ing going on in my truck.. My Truck is a 2006 Power Wagon with 60k

The tick may have gotten louder, but the synthetic oil is definetly protecting your engine better with the smaller molecules, which allow it to coat the engine better. I run Amsoil in my Cummins, but I also know a lot of guys that run Shaffers, Royal Purple, or Mobil 1. I am of the opinion that fully synthetic oil is the way to go in these trucks, gas or diesel. Brand is not as important as making sure whatever you run is full synthetic. Again, this is just one guys opinion, and I am partial to Amsoil.
