Optima Red Top
I went through THREE costly yellow and red top batteries before i quit using them. They are fine if you need a sealed battery for inside the ride but not under the hood IMO. I used to use the Duralast Gold batteries up until here recently when i had one die and found out they NO LONGER pro rate warranty them for 7 years like they used to. This caused me to be the same DLG-65 battery from Advance Auto for less and with a 7yr wnty.
There's no way they were ever worth that much money. Think how many conventional batteries could have been bought for that $160. Back then, probably three. Three conventional batteries will easily last longer than one Optima.
I don't know about the optimas, but I've always had good luck with Interstate batteries. (I got over 10 years out of one in my old 79 Ford,so I'm hooked on them) They have two models for our trucks. I just replaced my original battery with the better (higher CCA) of the two offered for just under $100.
