Default Fix for intermittent guage cluster

After chasing an intermittent problem in the guage cluster for over a year, where the chime would go off 20 time a day, and fuel guage drop off the go back to normal. I found the solution.
unfortunately, I had spend a lot of time and some money to no avail. I replaced my liftpump, which needed the upgrade and lastly the dash cluster.
I had googled the problem a dozen different ways to see if I could find a common issue or a fix with no sucess.
Solution:

I had installed a Isimple adapter to the truck radio to be able to dock an ipod. ver. pxpd. When I uninstalled it all issues went away.
I wrote the company about my experience and a reply was sent that basicly said they were sorry to hear about all the time and $$ spent on the issue. Had I checked their web site, there was a tech bullitin regarding the issue. See attached. http://pac-audio.com/productDetails....&CategoryID=36

Service writers and service techs were told of the installation and all indicated the in no way could a device plugged into the radio remote cd port influence the guages that get there imput ecu or pcm.

Maybe this issue had been discussed before, I sure couldn't find it.

I'm having a similar issue on my 03 3500 cummins. I have searched for over a year for and answer with no resolve.

These are the issues. It happens intermittently and seams more pronounced at colder temperatures. Sometimes happening only once. Other times it will continue for several minutes to hours (recently took a trip and it continued for over and hour). When it continuosly "cycles" it will happen at 14 second intervals. When I say cycle it's almost like an interrupt. Everything shuts down for maybe 1 second, it's basically like flipping a switch off and them right back on.

Issues:
All dash lights and center console lights will shut off
Dome lights and cargo light will shut off
All gauges will shut down and begin to "sink"
Heated seats (if on) will turn off
Trip meter will reset to previous logged value on both gauge cluster and overhead
Chime will chime 5 times. At higher speeds it will chime 1 time upon each "cycle"
Locks will unlock and relock immdiatley if above 15 mph or will relock when 15 mph is reached
Intermittent wiper will be interupped
Turn signal lights on dash will not cycle during reset

Almost everything affected runs through the cluster. I thought maybe a feed from the ignition switch but everything checks good from there but the key in ignition output. Even when key in ingition circuit problem is corrected I get the issue. Originally thought it was the cluster but I'm thinking with the issue actually occuring on a cycle it may be a ecm/pcm (or other computer) that is set to make a check at a regularly scheduled interval. I have check the grounds for all effected components (most are on the same ground) and found no issue. I have also pulled apart the cluster to look for bad soldier or burn marks and have used keyboard duster to to simulate cold on the board in an attempt to simulate hot/cold issue and expansion contraction associated with cold/hot.

I finally broke done and pulled out the aftermarket stereo and back up camera I hooked to it. If this works I will repost but in the meantime if anyone has any feed back I would love to hear it.

Thanks
