New fella, thought id introduce myself
I cam upon this site lookin for a good dodge forum beacuse of what i just picked up, even tho its not my first dodge. Just got er' wensday. She's a red 03 dodge 1500 stanard cab 4x4 5 speed with the 4.7. The doors are all manual, just like I like it, just less stuff to go bad. 4 wheel's in the floor. took forever lookin through addds to find this combo. Im happy with it. needed a couple things but more less just general maintenence. Came with a nice sony cd player and upgraded polk speakers. girls daddy bought it new in o3 and they pretty much just used it to pull a 2 horse trailer with it and to go to her oher job. has 3.55's and a 3 ball hitch, but i cant tell if it has a tow package, or were those even available on these models. has 118,000 and change on the odo and runs like a top. just changed the oil with gtx high mileage with a k@n oil filter, new o2 sesnors and plugs, just ordered a superchips programmer, sport mirrors and it already dualed out with the 70 series flowmaster ( the quiet one). only problem is that the bower motor only works on full blast, which is prolly an easy fix. my name is jeremy and i live in a small town in mid tn, so if thier isany advice about this model year truck, escpecially the 4.7 since ive never had one, im all ears, and its nice to meet yall.
Welcome to DF.
I'd check the blower resistor. That is what limits the fan speeds. When this goes bad, you only have high speed. It should be tucked up under the dash by the blower motor itself and is not an expensive part at all.
I'd reccomend doing a coolant flush. 4.7L's are notorious for overheating due to blocked radiators.

I have an 03 with the 4.7 and love it. It now has 216,000 miles and runs like new. The only thing to be prepared for is the crappy sealed ball joints in the front suspension. As you replace them along the way be sure and get ones with open grease fittings not OEM ball joints. Great truck and welcome aboard.
