blend door/housing latest?

Their has been no improvement in the parts. I know this because when i was at my dealer only a few months ago complaining about the issue the service guy said it's still one of the most common repair jobs they do. And they are seeing units they already repaired coming back again.

I think that is why they finally went back and redid the whole housing 'cause just redoing the door eventually failed again..this new housing and part number is very recent which is why im looking to see if anyone has bought and installed it yet.

Ordered the new recirc/air inlet housing. I'll post a pic when it arrives...

I had the same problem. I had to reach in there and pull the broken door out, so I could get air movement. Any pics or install tips would be nice.

This is an industry wide problem as almost all manufacturers are using cheap/flimsy/asian made plastic doors. I have a good friend with an '08 Lincoln he paid over $55,000 for with the problem right now. Dealer quoted him $1800 to replace!!!


The "new" Mopar part number if it's the same that the Jeep guys have started seeing is actually a clone of the ebay "Heater-Treater", quick fix. It works, but I'm reading a lot of guys who have installed it are seeing leaks on the passenger floorboard when they don't get the seal perfect after cutting away behind the glove box...

I'm hoping the box shows up with some instructions or perhaps there is a new service bulletin out for it?....

The new part comes with no instructions. I did mine last month, and the only part I used was the door itself. It's not to hard to do if you don't have the upgraded Infinity sound system. If you do, there's an amplifier that will block your access to the motor. That was the biggest PITA of the whole job. Got the part from my local dealer, and the only difference I noticed was the housing box has an extra motor stop.
As far as if the door itself was improved, I don't know as my old door was missing.

There is no cutting on recirc door replacement. It's all done from the blower hole after you remove the blower.

66three83: you're saying that it will be easier for me to just pull out and use the new door instead of swaping out the whole housing unit?

Then I'd say this would be a decent solution. As I stated, I'm only familiar with the Mopar unit for the Grand Cherokee that came out a couple of years ago - with that one you have to cut a hole and guys on the Jeep forums are reporting leaks...
