Ok thanks. I didn't know if that sensor was different than a abs one because I don't have front abs. But it would make sense to make that sensor a speed sensor/abs sensor together in one.

Well I still haven't fixed it yet due to I don't drive it much anymore because I'm trying to save money on gas. But anyway, today I was looking in the service manual and it says the 5.7L does not run the cruise on vacuum but instead the pcm controls an electric soleniod. It also says that the solenoid is located under the battery box. So I just went outside and took a look for myself. There was a little cover under the box on the side and it flips down to reveal the solenoid. From there I was able to trace the only line that runs the cruise which was a cable that runs back in under the dash. And then I unpluged the only harness connected to the solenoid and that looked good. So at this point, I'm not sure if the pcm is the one turning off the cruise along with the cruise light, the speed sensor, or the cruise solenoid. But I would think out of the three, I don't think the solenoid or the sensor could turn the cruise light off, but maybe just disable the cruise. So I'm thinking that maybe it something with the pcm but I don't know.

Had the same issue, the speed sensor was over heating because of the brakes getting to low. Cruise wouldn't engage light would turn off randomly at all speeds. Did a brake job and cleaned everything real good and haven't had an issue since

Hmm thanks for the response. I know my brakes are not low as I did them not to long ago, but when I pulled the sensor out to look at it and the teeth they had some type of clear looking grease on it. I don't know if a new hub comes with grease on the teeth to prevent them from rusting or if the dealer put it in there. Anyways, I guess I might then just try and replace the sensor. I bet it is a dealer item only but I will have to do some checking.

I got another question for all of you. Does anybody know if they used the same sensor for the 4 wheel abs equipped trucks with cruise and trucks not equipped with front cruise. I'm just wondering if they used a different sensor for my truck since I don't have front abs or if the same sensor works for abs and non abs trucks. Almost like the sensor does two things, keeps control of the abs and the cruise. Because if that is the case, they I can just look for a abs sensor.

Well today I took the fenderwell out and looked under the battery at the speed control thing. Yup, theres no vacuum line connected to it.

Well I figured I would do some more testing today and try to figure it out. I figured if the front sensor of the hub controlled the cruise and it seemed to turn off when moving but would stay on at idle I would jack up the rear of the truck and put it into drive. This way the front hub is not moving and should not affect the cruise because it sees the hub not moving. Well with the front end not moving but with the rear moving, the cruise still turned off. So that knocks out the cruise senosr on the hub being bad. I also realized that the light turns off at 6 mph everytime. It will stay on under 6 mph in forward or reverse but at soon as you hit 7 mph, it will turn off. It would do tht same with the rear in the air or on the ground driving.
