Default Need radio help...

I just installed a new HU and a CB radio. Wired everything in with the PAC harness and both radio and CB worked great. I was changing the HD radio channels when suddenly the display went blank. Everything else is lit up like a Christmas tree and the speakers are a'rockin' but the actual display is blank. Is my HU bad or is there some way that I wired it up wrong? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Unless you built it from scratch, it isn't wired wrong. Some units allow you turn the display off. Could that have happened? Also, perhaps the always-hot lead may have popped the fuse. Are the radio presets working properly?

This HU doesn't have the option to completely turn the display on or off. I've checked the fuses and nothing is blown.

If the controls lights on the radio work and it's playing out of the speakers then it sounds like the display screen went out.

Is it a Pioneer? If so, maybe you pressed the "mode button" made for a Navigation add-on ? If not it could always be a faulty unit... it would help if you can give model information for the HU.

Sorry, its a Dual XDMAR6720. I ran through all of the modes with no change. I double checked the wiring and everything looks good and matches the instructions from both the HU manual as well as the PAC manual. I'm thinking the HU is a bad unit.

There's your problem it's a Dual, please don't take what I'm saying wrong and the reason I'm saying that is another guy asking about stereos and I had a reply and he took offense to it

Anyway I have been installing stereos and audio systems for about 5 years not professionally but in free time for others and I would have to say Duals are by far one of the most faulty HU out there due to they are very cheaply made and that's why they are much cheaper to buy. Now I'm one to say you get what you pay for. Now that being said spend a little extra cash and you could even go to a local wal mart and buy the higher priced kenwood or sony HU for around $100 or so and they will perform way better than that Dual ever would. Also if the HU is new take it back and get money back

Hope this helps and you get problem fixed

What ^ he said. Ellis is right. Dual offers a lot of features for the money, but if they dont work, what did you save? Spend a little more and you won't regret it. Pioneer, JVS, Clarion, Alpine and Kenwood are all repuable brands, built very well, and have inexpensive models that should fill the bill. Try ebay. I got a Kenwood with bluetooth, wireless remote, USB and Aux in for $75.00.

agreed with the comments on dual. They came up with the name because you usually have to purchase the same HU again!

Dual made turntables and a few other things, period. Anything besides that is some cheap b@st@rds using the name. Sorry for your bad luck.
