Default Need help! 2005 Ram overheating

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and you may be my last hope before I give up on my truck.

I have a 2005 Ram 1500 4.7L. When I drive down the highway the temp gauge is normal but as soon as I stop at a light the the truck starts to overheat. I have replaced the thermostat, fan clutch and radiator in the past month, all of the work was done at the same shop, and it still does the same thing. It's not leaking but I think it might be burning antifreeze. This morning I checked the fluid levels. The reservoir is about half full but I poured a full jug of antifreeze into the radiator. It did not overheat the rest of the day.

I am not taking back to the shop that did the work, every time I bring it back they just change a different part. I called and told them about the problem and they told me they changed everything it could possibly be and are not quite sure what it could be.

Also the check engine light is on. Code is p0300 and p0311. I have changed all the coils and plugs and it still spits p0300. Can't figure out that one either.

I need major help guys!
thanks!

Welcome to DF, make sure that differant coolants wernt mixed; They dont mix well and can clog things up. Could also be the waterpump, but if you think it is burning coolant then it could also be a headgasket causing overheating.

Do not drive this truck if it's overheating, even mild overheats can cause head gasket, head and valve failure in the 4.7 V8.

Radiator could be clogged, check you lines by hand when the truck is running and make sure there are no blockages...
