when you do a cam swap, headers, performance heads, etc... Is it necessary or recommended to get a bigger stall? Whats the advantages or disadvantages of not getting one?

Most recommend that if a Hemi Ram is going to remain a street truck (daily driver) that the factory stall rate is perfect, but upgrading to a torque converter that DOES NOT lose over 25% of the HP between the crank and the rear wheels is a prudent upgrade...

The truck does seem a little lagging sometimes when I'm driving around town such as pulling from a stop light or something but when I'm at a stop and I go wide open it does great. I was thinking the tune needs adjusting but maybe I just need a bigger stall and some bigger gears

Gears definitely help, especially with a heavy quad cab. Circle D recommended for my combo (since I still use it as a truck) a 2800 stall with 4.56's and it works great for me.

Yea that sounds like what I need. What combo do you have? I'm running what I stated above plus a few other mods. Did you notice a difference with the gears and stall? (if you have a similar setup as me)

Definite difference. I told them that I still needed to be able to haul and tow, that I would eventually install a comp 260 with headers and that I had 4.56's. He said the cam I was getting would probably like a little more stall speed, but it might heat things up too much when towing. Just as a safety measure I put the 3500 trans cooler in. This thing pretty much flashes to 3000, loading the converter to stall at launch doesn't work as well for me anymore lol.

What stall rate should I go with and where can I get a good one?

Edge, Circle D, ATI, APS. Doing a search on here will get you a variety of opinions and experiences. I had it narrowed down to Edge or Circle D, ended up with the better $$ deal from Circle D.
