2005 dodge 3500 rear axle ring gear noise
I have a 2005 dodge 3500 with 140,000 km. I started noticing a pulsating rumble from the rear about 2,000km ago and ever since it has grown progressively worse. After taking it to a few mechanics, a conclusion has been reached that it is irregular wear in the ring gear and that it has developed a high spot.
I was wondering if anyone would know what would cause such a problem, due to the fact that the crown and pinion are relatively strong components in the rear differential. The rear diff fluid was changed at 110,000 km and was always at appropriate levels.
