Default 2007 RAM 1500 Maintenance Schedule

I just bought a 2007 Ram 1500 with a Hemi 5.7L engine a few weeks ago and it now has 59,000 miles. I called the dealership to ask about scheduled service at 60,000 and they said I needed my spark plugs changed and an induction cleaning every 30,000 miles. Also, the rear differential fluid needed to be changed at 60,000.

I know dealerships are out to make a buck, but does anyone do the induction cleaning every 30,000? If so, do you do it yourself and how? What about the differential fluid? I have a 2WD. Neither one is listed in the owners manual schedule A service.

Thanks.

Download the Service Manual from the links in my signature. You will find all of that info and much more.

Also there is a link to out FAQs and How To's that have everything else covered that you are needing to do (change plugs, clean TB and diff oils)

I have an 06' and they mention doing both diffs every 30k miles. You sure your looking in the right place?

These trucks need plugs and diff fluid every 30k. Throttle body is a good thing too and very easy to do. Just make sure to use Non Chlorinated brake cleaner, NOT Throttle Body Cleaner. Once you remove the "Hemi Hat" you just unplug the Throttle Body (one connector) and remove four 10mm bolts. I would suggest picking up a new throttle body seal at the time. It's a few bucks and cheap insurance. May as well do the PCV valve too, simple to replace with no tools.

If their is no record of anyone doing the trans fluid and filters, you should look into that as well.

I called the dealership and they said that since it is not a 4WD only the rear differential fluid needs to be changed. I checked the 2006 service manual weedahoe gave links to and it says the same.

The carfax says the transmission pan gasket and PCV valve was changed at 53,000 so I guess the transmission fluid was changed at that time.

I will look into cleaning the throttle body to save myself some money.

Thanks
