Default Question about wagner brake pads

Today I bought some brake pads for my truck. They are the wagner thermo quiet part number MX965 (front) and MX702A (back). I took the front caliper and everything off, took the pads out and went to put the new pad in only to find that the ends of the pads are a completely different shape. I checked wagner's site and partsource gave me the right pads according to wagner's site. I am a little confused on how these pads are supposed to fit in the place of the old ones. Here is a pic so you can see what I am talking about (the wagner pad (on the left) in the pic is actually the rear pad, the fronts are the same shape but bigger)

I put it all back together with the old pad again because i need the truck tonight and i figured they had given me the wrong pads. Now that I see that they are supposedly the right ones I'll rip it all apart again tomorrow morning and see if i can get them in.

Yeah, def the wrong pads for sure. Why not use ceramic pads though instead of semi metallics?

partsource had the wagners on sale for a pretty good price, and they were the best they had so I bought them. To be honest I am not really to concerned on the type of pad I put in, up until your post weedahoe I didn't even know if these were semi metallic, ceramic or any other kind lol. What exactly is the advantage of ceramic anyways?

edit: just checked wagner's website again and the pads that they list for the regular cab models look like the ones that i would need. Does my truck have different brakes on it than it should or is wagner all f'ed up in their part numbers?

Ceramics will stop better and put out significantly less brake dust.

Diito on weeds post. less prone to squeeking/squeeling as well. Def worth the extra for ceramics.

I actually had a worse experience with ceramics over semi-metallics on my truck. I've had both the Hawk Ceramics and another ceramic brand I can't recall which they both ended up being squeaky after about a few days of use. Not a horrible squeak, but enough to hear it.

As with any pads or shoes, if they get a glaze on them or you dont use the grease for them they will make noise.
