2005 Ram 4r SLT door lock issue
OK, here is the deal...
It turns out that, while the dealer [ and Chrysler ] said no one was aware of a issue like this , there is a module in the DASH, for crying out loud, and of all palces, that controls the door locks system.
Now the dash has been changed out to fix the probem and the drivers door now unlocks, but guess what, there is a EXCHNGE PROGRAM [or so they say] for the dash at $700 plus each plus labor at about $300 to install it.
$1000 To get one FRIGGIN driver's door lock to unlock !!
And now the interior light that goes on when you open the driver's door won't go on and the dealer / service department at Patterson Crysler /Dodge in MT Airy NC won't call me back to address this new problem, WHICH THEY CAUSED, after several calls this past week.
If not a KNOWN issue, why is there a dash exchange program, and is this a planned failure, given that this happened right after the mileage warrantee expired !! It makes me wonder what is next ????????????
The Dodge electrical system designers really had their head up thier Patotie on this one, and wouldn't be surprised if the failing dash module parts came from CHINA.
I now realize that this could be a real big safety problem if not fixed, since getting out of the rruck in a ccident could be fatal in certain cases.NHSTA should be notified.
If Chrysler won't fix the interior light issue, I may just live with it, since it isn't endangering my life, like the door not unlocking. I am afraid if I take it back, they make screw up something else to make parts and service $$$.
I have a young neighbor who took her Toyota Tacoma pickup in for a oil change at the companion Patterson Toyota dealer run at the same location and they actually loosened clamps and hoses on the water pump to scare her into getting work done. Luckily she asked me to look at it first and I retightened the hoses, and it it still running fine 3+ years later.
Perhaps the same money making philosophy has migrated to the Dodge facility since they moved to the same physical location a few years ago. YM [ and dash module life ] MV

I know this is a couple minths old, but I have a driver door lock issue as well. It won't electronicaly lock or unlock, but the key works.
I am guessing it is teh same issue for my 2002.
Thanks for running that down, now I know to leave it alone
