4x4 engage without command @ hwy speed
I have a problem with my 4x4 engaging completely on its own intermittently, and its really starting to get me frustrated. Below is a list of all the activity I have done on the truck, but if it keeps doing what its doing, I'm going to be buying another front axel.
I'm getting real frustrated, and I'm not coward enough to pass the problem on to someone else without disclosing the "reason for the sale"… And that pretty well means that I will take a bath on it if I sell it as is.
Also, below I added notes for everything I have done to the truck since I bought it in November, I'm wondering if anyone there knows if there is any possibility of the Work Dodge did to fix my starting problem that could have triggered this? It just seems way to weird that the first time this problem occurred was the day I picked it up from there? I'm not blaming them, but I just need this problem to go away so I can sink this $ into some tires vs. repairs.
Truck would not start, took to Dodge (Tow) - Feb 15
*Replaced instrument cluster
*Replaced skim module
*Also had bumper painted, and pia lights removed and re-installed
1st time I noticed it shift into 4wd by itself was about 15 minutes after picking it up from Dodge
Took it back in to Dodge on my next days off, ran multiple tests and checked 4x4 connections – could not find any issues – Feb 24
Continued to shift randomly (sometimes it goes for days with out shifting, sometimes weeks, sometimes the light flashes once, sometimes it goes in and out for 30 mins) this is doing noticeable damage, as often it shifts in at highway speeds
Took to Chrysler – Suggest to replace Encoder motor ASM (encoder motor mode / sensor assembly) - March 23
Major noise when 4x4 is used – took to Chrysler – Replaced front axel – May 15
The truck also does some other things that are odd, and I'm guessing could be related to the 4x4 issue
Every now and again the PIA indicator light goes out or shows no power(mounted on dash and normally green when light are not on, and red when the lights are on)
Periodically my bullydog programer will turn on and off repeaditly, when this happens I override the power source to the bullydog under the dash and it works fine ( makes me think I have an issue with ACC)
When I start the truck with common start, get in and turn the key on, all the electronics re-set (i.e. The radio, heat, etc all go off for a split second then resume again) then when I push the brake and move into a gear, they all re-set again for a split second. The most annoying part is my heated seats, cause I get in the truck turn on the seats, then they don't come back on without me pushing them again.
