7 wire trailer wiring
My truck had the factory 4 pole, which means, NO simple plug and play for my truck. I installed a new P2 and this harness http://www.easternmarine.com/pre-wir...ion-kit-118607.
Watch this video at 2:19 and if you don't have this blue female connector then everything has to be wired. http://www.etrailer.com/multi-produc...6284&hunter=bc
I installed all my stuff last week. Its not hard, you could knock it out in no time.
I don't have a battery on my trailer, so not sure how to charge it.

I have a 2003 Dodge Pickup and I am trying to wire a brake controller. I have the blue plug under the dash however my truck did not come with the 7 pin connector in the rear. Are the wires back there somewhere or do I need to run new wires? I do see 1 wire not connected to anything and it's a white wire, but I believe I need one more wire. Is the wire that's missing the hot wire and do I need to run a heat lead from the battery? If so how do I do that? Thanks for any help. Rick
If it's a white w/ brown strip just hanging outside of the harness, I used that wire for my brake light on my topper/cap. It appears you may only need to run a blue wire from the 4 to 7 pole adapter to a main harness under the driver's side of the truck. Check out this link, scroll down to "Factory installed 4-pole". http://www.etrailer.com/faq-dbc.aspx
2003 dodge 1500 I want to have trailer brakes, so I bought the Hopkins that plugs into my harness under the dash. But to find out it only has a 4 wire flat plug and 7 pin that only has 4 wire set up . No electric brakes . Cant find the wires for the trailer brakes.
