2005 Dodge diesel - Fan clutch
Have a mechanic telling me my fan clutch is going out. The temp is reading between 180 210 with A/C on. On the Hwy or in traffic.
I would think since this is a electronic clutch if I did the three On/Off with the Ign key I would see a diagnostic code. Nothing!
Anybody have any way of telling me how to diagnose this?

I'd guess it's a mechanical fan clutch. Neither they nor an e-fan has any connection to "talk" to the computer to throw a code. In the case of an e-fan, a relay applies power to the fan motor when the engine temp sensor says to. A mechanical fan kicks on when the thermostat in the hub says to.
What are the symptoms? When the engine is cold, a mechanical fan will be difficult to turn by hand. When the motor's hot, it'll be nearly impossible to spin the fan (with the motor off) due the the grip the fan clutch has on the water pump shaft.

Its an electrical clutch. You should be able to hear it engage (even over the cummins rumble) when it warms up, it will sound like someone started up a large vaccum cleaner or something. ~200 is about where the temp should be, ive seem mine ~205 pulling my camper at 70. Clean out the radiators good, all of them are stacked ontop of each other. Remove as much bugs and debris as you can and fix any fbent fins that you can, anything to help promote airflow at low speeds and see if that helps.
It is electronic for sure... And harness is connected. It looks to me like it is running right. I think this mechanic was trying to screw me.
The other problem with this was we found a leak in my Accumulator where the bracket is welded to the container, so do to it having High pressure 400 Lbs is why he said my fan clutch was out.
I beleive I need to fix the A/C first and see what the pressures do.

The fan will spin while the truck is idleing, but it will not be running at full speed until the electronic clutch engages.
Poor airflow over the condensor can cause a raise in the high side of the A/C system (hince why the mechanic though of the fan), but there could be more to it than that. Did you clean out the condensor and radiators, that will cause higher pressure on the high side. Blocked oriface tube is another issue. You need to get a pressure reading from the high and low side of the system to properly diagnose the problem. Get a pressure reading from both sides to determine if you need to replace more than the Accumulator while you have it apart to save some time and money.
