Default Spark Plugs

I'm about ready for my 30k maint ('04 Hemi), and did a search to see what everybody's thoughts on plugs were, and it's all over the road. Other than a general consensus that nobody seems to like the multi-tips, everybody seems to disagree on brands or copper vs. platinum, etc.

The service manual says stay with Champions. Any thoughts?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. In other words, stick with the Champions.

Champion spark plugs have such a bad name. Most people who have worked on a lot of motors would tell you to stay away from Champion. Not saying I agree with this.

I'm not sure how the coils are on the ram, but I think that if the impedence of the plugs are too low for the designed current output of the coil then you can burn it up in a heartbeat. i've had this happen on a for escort before when i used bosch platinum +4.

I just changed mine. I used Double Platnum Autolite plugs. They're a 50,000 mi plug. I've used them in an 83 monte, 96 Ranger, and a 2000 GTP. No problems what so ever. The plugs even came pre-gapped. I still checked them before I put them in.

I had Champions go out on my 96 Plymouth Breeze at right around 36K. The mechanic broke open the Champions and showed me why. Champions use a coil insided the plug. If that coil heats up for any reason, it could snap. The mechanic broke open a Bosch plug for me and showed me it also. Bosch uses a solid rod all the way through the plug. My Breeze has 138K on it now and I've never had a problem with the plugs since they were changed. I'll never use Champs again.
