Go 4" or go Home LOL.
It is all 4" PVC schedule 40, I used a 3" to 4" rubber converter for the boot at the throttle body, (just your standard rubber plumbing fitting). The two straight pieces of PVC are 9" coming off the 90 at the throttle body and 7 1/4" coming off the 60 leading to the filter. you will also need a 4" to 4"O.D. reducer to fit into the Spectre filter. This may be different if you go with a different filter brand and not sure these dimensions will work on every model/year truck, however it may just be that you need a different angle corner configuration if it don't. I know it worked for my Buddies 2006 and my 2007 V8 5.7 Hemi. Don't forget to get the grommet for the sensor.Drill a hole about 3/4" and fit it in or you can just RTV it in also, but it is nice to be able to remove it if you have to, hence the right grommet... Then you will have to dry fit it all mark it and glue it with PVC Cement, then of course mount it somehow... Think that is all, hope I didn't forget anything, Just ask if you have any other questions man... Post some pics when it's done... Happy Modding......

So...
1- Large Spectre cone filter (any auto store like O'Riley or Auto zone)
1- 9" piece of PVC
1- 7.25" piece of PVC
1-90
1-60
1- 4" PVC reducer to filter
1- 3"-4" Rubber plumbing boot
1- grommet for a GM Part#65113 found at O'Rielly Auto parts in the HELP section (for the IAT sensor)
Happy Modding.....

I like the idea of being innovative and cheap to accomplish the same concept a more costly product costs but I gotta admit, the mold marks and joints on the pvc intakes I have never liked.

I had originally place my filter a little further down but for obvious reason ( rain, water etc) Moved it up and still got worried. Question is, are you now worried water will shoot up into the cone? I have mine hidden in my OEM box.

I haven't made one in quite some time really. Wasn't much interest in them as most guys didn't mind seeing all the glued joints and mold parts. But i show my truck off a lot. Right now I am at a show (will upload pictures later) and I can't do things like this with parts glued together. I've got pics of mine in my gallery links though if you want see them.
